Local karatekas represent Gauteng in Durban for nationals

Three karatekas from Michael Roetz Karate Institute represented Gauteng when then they competed in the Children, Cadet and Junior Karate South Africa All-Style National Championships.

Three karatekas from Michael Roetz Karate Institute represented Gauteng when then they competed in the Children, Cadet and Junior Karate South Africa All-Style National Championships

Held in Durban, the championships were hosted in early April.

The Edenvale athletes excelled, with Michael Roetz taking gold in the junior kumite, Kelsy Stevenson claiming gold in the unison kata and gold junior kumite and Onka Rampheka securing a silver in the junior kumite.

They also received their Protea colours in Cadets and Juniors.

Roetz, Stevenson and Rampheka are now preparing for the UFAK Region South Championships that will be hosted in Swakopmund, Namibia.
