“Everybody should be watching out for BCC Football Club in 2025 because we are coming with fire.”

This is the opinion of the head coach, Goisto Sesinye.

The squad is back with renewed energy at training and ready to make a statement.

They are running open trials until February 13.

Players will be assessed for technical ability, attitude and commitment.

The club’s senior coaches, Sesinye and Hugo Velosa, shared a clear vision for the year, emphasising the importance of commitment, consistency, and building on the foundations of last season.

“The priority this year is to continue building on the philosophy we have developed.

“This philosophy, which aims to establish a uniform playing style across all age groups, has been in the works since last season and is now ready for full implementation,” said Sesinye.

Together with Velosa, they have created a manual that lays out an age-appropriate approach ensuring that players from U6 through to the senior team play in a way that reflects the club’s core values.

Their goal for the club is for players to develop a deep understanding of the game, both in terms of skills and mentality, ensuring they uphold the standards of professionalism and respect.

“It’s not just about the skills, it’s about the mentality around it. We want players to be proud of the badge. They need to understand why they’re here and what it means to them.”

Reflecting on last year, they experienced challenges with the consistency of attendance and performance.

“We were not losing by big margins, but inconsistency in training and attendance did hold us back. This year, we’re making it clear that attendance is crucial.

No training, no play. We need players who are committed and ready to give their all,” said Sesinye.

Part of their plans to improve include ensuring that coaches are always prepared for the training sessions.

They also want to build proper squads with a winning mentality and instil discipline into the players to uphold themselves as professional players more than just coming to the club to socialise.

“We’re looking for players with hunger and desire. It’s about the mentality as much as the skills. If the players show the right attitude, the skills will come,” added Velosa.

They will be hosting a tournament for all age groups at the first weekend of the month. The tournament will also serve as a way to gauge the progress of teams as they move into the new season.

Their goal is for the senior team to make it to the top eight after finishing towards the bottom of the league last year.

“BCC is synonymous with the city as it has been around for many years. It has produced some great players and teams over the years.

“We offer a nurturing environment and we love soccer. We’re a fun club and we want players to enjoy it,” said Velosa.

“There is a culture of parents wanting to be hands-on which inspires other parents to commit to the sport.”
