EFC ladies’ team prep for GWDL with friendly match

The match served as a warm-up for both teams as they prepare for the competitive season ahead.

Edenvale Football Club’s U15 ladies’ team kicked off the pre-season with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Absalom Tete FC in a friendly match.

Played on February 1, the match was an exciting prelude to the upcoming Gauteng Women’s Development League (GWDL), set to start in March.

The home team took the early lead in the first 30 minutes, showing their attacking intent.

The match served as a warm-up for both teams as they prepare for the competitive season ahead.

Edenvale Football Club’s head of ladies, Louis Antonopoulos, said, “We will be playing more games.

“JVW has invited us to a festival at the end of February, although the exact date is yet to be confirmed. We have other friendly matches scheduled.”

They are still recruiting players, girls from the ages of 10 to 17, to part take in the GWDL.

Additionally, older players looking to compete in the regional league this year are also encouraged to join.

The team trains on Monday and Wednesday from 18:00.
