Two St Andrew’s pupils earn national hockey honours
Two talented St Andrew’s learners are set to represent South Africa in national hockey teams following standout showings at recent provincial competitions.
St Andrew’s School for Girls learners Azania Petersen and Ronewa Tshikhudo have been selected for national hockey squads following standout performances at recent interprovincial tournaments.
Petersen, a Grade 10 learner, was named to the South African Schools Hockey U17 High Performance team after her performance at the U18 National Hockey Tournament in the KZN Midlands, where she represented the Southern Gauteng U18A team. She scored three goals and played a key role in the team’s attacking strategies.

Petersen was also recently selected for the South African Schools Tennis Team, making her a rare dual-sport national athlete.
Tshikhudo, in Grade Nine, represented the Southern Gauteng U16A team at the Interprovincial Tournament and earned a place in the South African U16A hockey team, recognition of her skill, dedication and consistent performances.
The school congratulated both players on their achievements and wished them success in their future sporting endeavours.
