Players chosen for district team
Football players from various East Rand clubs were recently chosen to play for the U/11 Easterns District team.
This year, the district tournament was held at the Germiston City Football Club in Delville, on October 5 and 6.
District teams that competed included the Eastern Local Football Association (ELFA), the Southern Local Football Association (SLFA), the North Rand Football Association (NRFA) and the Rand Central Football Association (RCFA). ELFA’s U/11 team won the tournament with four wins and one loss. The players scored eight goals and conceded only two.
After the tournament, the team went on tour to Durban from October 10 to 12. The team played against the Riverside development U/12 team. The the game ended in a 3-3 draw. A second game was played against the Durban Central Football Association’s (DFCA) U/12 teams. The ELFA team beat DCFA U/12 A with a score of 3-0. They also beat the DCFA U/12 B team 2-0.
The ELFA team then played a combined DCFA U/12 team in the final game, which ended in a 0-0 draw. A penalty shoot-out followed, which ELFA won 4-2.
