Rocking start for Rockafellas
The Rockafellas defeated the 69ers by six wickets in the first fixture of the Last Man Stands (LMS) winter league.
The opening match of the winter season took place at Jeppe Quondom on March 8.
The 69ers batting first, with the opening batsmen Charles Hattingh and Nicky Smith getting off to a slow start.
They only managed four runs from three overs before both being bowled out.
The 69ers found fortune when the partnership of batsmen Ernest Du Toit and Danie Williams managed 34 runs from five overs. When the final wicket fell of 69ers, the team had reached a total of 43 runs.
A strong batting display from Neil Anderson ensured a good start for Rockafellas, after he made 25 runs from 21 balls.
Despite losing batsman Francois Pretorius for a duck, the Rockafellas held on with some good batting from Damian McHugh.
Rockafellas reached 50 for the loss of only two wickets, after 9.4 overs.
The Rockafellas will take on the Rubber Duckz on March 29 at Jeppe Quondam, while the 69ers will take on the Red Romans on Sunday, March 23.
