LMS stars receive awards
Deon Dreyer from the JDK Invaders, was the best batsman in Division 1 while Andrew from the One Hit Wonders, was the best bowler in Division 1.
The Bedfordview Last Man Stands (LMS) cricket franchise held its second quarter prize giving on Saturday, June 28.
The league, which plays in Bedfordview and Germiston, attracts players and teams from around the East Rand.
The Division 1 winners for the second quarter were the JDK Invaders with Old School 1 taking the plate honours.
Deon Dreyer from the JDK Invaders, was the best batsman in Division 1 while Andrew from the One Hit Wonders, was the best bowler in Division 1.
The award for the best wicketkeeper in Division 1 went to Johan Grobler from Deadbeats.
Old School 2 took top honours in Division 2 and walked away as league and plate winners for the second quarter.
JJ Deer from the Lumberjacks was the best Division 2 batsman while Leon De Wit from the Firsty Thuckers, was the best bowler in Division 2.
Malcolm Gower from the Red Romans was the best wicketkeeper in Division 2.
Division 3 league winners were Wicket Wanebes, while the RB Boyz were the plate winners.
The award for the best batsman in Division 3 went to Shawn Robben from the Wicket Wanebes, while the award for the best bowler in Division 3 went to Soso Mokoko from the Young Lions.
Christian van Wyk from the Dascher Dragons walked away with the award for the best wicketkeeper in Division 3.
The third quarter games for the Bedfordview LMS franchise kicked off this past weekend.
The short, eight week league will only feature teams from Division 1 and Division 2.
