13-year-old Lungelo Mpungose is a rising football star.
Lungelo was named the man of the match at the first official Joburg East Football Association tournament held in Rhodes Park on August 5.

“I’m happy to be named the man of the match,” said Lungelo.
He said he started playing football on the streets of Denver. His coach saw him and asked him to join his team, Sikelela Limited FC.
He started playing soccer at the age of eight.
He said, “I love soccer and I’m also good at it – that makes me enjoy it even more.”
He said he is inspired by Orlando Pirates because of the way they play and because they also have good players.
“I would love to play for Pirates one day because I love the team,” he said.
Lungelo said because it’s not easy to get into the football, he hopes to join the police force one day.
He enjoys being part of Sikelela.
“We are a family in this team and we always support and help each,” concluded Lungelo.
