SA baseball players hope to hit a home run

In preparation for the international tournaments, players train five times a week.

Gauteng members of the South African u-23 and senior baseball squads recently trained at the Edenvale Sports Grounds.

Training was held on June 23 on the fields of the Giant Imps Baseball Club.

Players took part in pitching and batting drills.

President of the club Dean McKinon said the players were training for the 2018 u-23 Baseball World Cup and the 2020 Olympic Games.

In preparation for the international tournaments, players train five times a week.

“The teams are doing well and the training is paying off,” said McKinon.

He said while overseas, the players hope to play well and finish in a good position.
