Irish dancers shine at SA championships
All dancers from the local studio received placings and medals in the various categories they competed in throughout the competition, bringing back over 70 awards between them.
The Shaw-Butler Studio recently took part in the 2018 Irish Dancing South African Championships.
All dancers from the local studio received placings and medals in the various categories they competed in throughout the competition, bringing back over 70 awards between them.
The ungraded u-7 dancers achieved exceptional results.
Ava Grobler won one silver and two bronze medals while Kirsten Parker won two gold and two silver medals.

In the Priomh Comortas (Premiership) level at the championships, Cuinn Calcutt finished second overall in PC3 (13-14 years category), achieving a second in his hard shoe round and third in his softshoe round.
Claire Thompson finished second overall in the PC2 (nine years and under category), winning first place in her hard shoe round and second place in the softshoe round.

Claire also competed in the PC3 (nine years and under) and placed third overall with a first place in the hard shoe round and fourth place in the softshoe round.
Morgan Zimmerman came in fifth in the softshoe round in PC4 and Layla Johnson achieved a second place in the hard shoe round in PC5.
In the Team events (Ceili Dancing) the dancers placed second, third and fourth in the Three-hand dances category.
The Eight-hand Ladies team was awarded first place.
