Goju Kai take gold at Classic Karate Championships

Goju Kai Crawford Italia Karate School’s athletes recently competed at the Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Karate Championships held at the Sandton Convention Centre.

The dojo won 15 medals in total with four gold, five silver and six bronze medals.

Every athlete from the dojo returned with at least one medal.

Results for the dojo were as follows:

• Jesse Sim – gold medals in u-21 kata and male senior team kata.
• Kaylee Naidoo – bronze medals in cadet kata and kumite.
• Priyanke Reddy – bronze medal in cadet kumite.
• Nicolas Alves – bronze medal in cadet kumite.
• Mikayla Alves – silver medal for girls 10-11 kumite and bronze medal for girls 10-11 kata.
• Connor Hundermark – silver medal for boys 10-13 team kata and bronze medal for boys 10-11 kata.
• Troy Borges – silver medal for boys 10-13 team kata.
• Matteo Erasmus – silver medal for boys 10-13 team kata.
• Devin Bourbon – silver medal in boys 7-9 kata.
• Justin Baynes – gold medal in male senior team kata.
• Khardan Ruocchio – gold medal in male senior team kata.
