Jansen van Vuuren to represent SA

Organised by the European Canoeing Association, the event will see SA go up against canoeists from 30 countries.

Edenvale resident and paddler Helen Jansen van Vuuren was one of eight junior paddlers selected to represent South Africa in Slovakia in September.

Jansen van Vuuren, a learner at Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston, will compete as a member of the Canoeing South African team in the The Olympic Hope Competition.

Over the years, Jansen van Vuuren has shown herself to be a determined paddler and member of the Victoria Lake Canoe Club.

Jennie Dallas, Gauteng Canoe Union public relations officer, said the competition is an event for paddlers between the ages of 15 to 17.

Organised by the European Canoeing Association, the event will see SA go up against canoeists from 30 countries.

It will be held along the Danube River at the Zemník Canoeing Sport Centre.
