International success for Edenvale swimmer

Edenvale swimmer Kyle McKenzie recently set a new event record while competing in the Circuito Nuoto Italia in Italy.

McKenzie set the record when he won a gold medal in the 200m Individual Medley event in the Pesaro leg of the competition.

Edenvale swimmer Kyle McKenzie recently took part in the Circuito Nuoto Italia. During the event held in Italy, McKenzie had the opportunity to meet Hungarian Olympic swimmer Laszlo Cseh.

In addition to setting a new record, the Edenvale High School learner also won a bronze medal in the 200m breaststroke.

In the Treviso leg, McKenzie lowered his own Eastern Gauteng record time by four seconds when he won a bronze medal in the 400m individual medley.

The Pesaro and Treviso events form part of the European swimming circuit and attract the top swimmers from across the world.

Earlier this year a number of swimmers from Gauteng were invited to the event.
