Swimming gala at Edenvale Public Swimming Pool

Falcon House was the winners of The King’s School annual interhouse swimming gala.

The King’s School in Linbro Park hosted its annual interhouse swimming gala at the Edenvale Public Swimming Pool on February 15.

The gala kicked off at 8am, and included pre-school and foundation phase events.

“As with everything to do with the two phases, the “cute factor” won the day. It was heartwarming to see the high school lifesavers in the pool assisting,” said executive head Terry Currin.

The intermediate phase and high school events commenced with main races, such butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and finished off with freestyle.

The gala incorporated fun races in order to include as many of the learners as possible, whether they can swim competitively or not.

The fun races were a seal race, where the learners had to get a beach ball from one side of the pool to the other without using their hands.

There was also a tube pull race, where teamwork was needed. The day ended with a lilo rowing race.

“We do not have our own swimming pool. The staff at the Edenvale Public Swimming Pool are awesome. They are helpful, accommodating and a pleasure to work with,” said Currin.

Falcon House won the day.

The house results were:

• Kestrel: 337

• Martial: 377

• Falcon: 380
