Edenvale to host championship cat show
During the morning, the cats will be judged in their various classes, while at approximately 3pm the main Best in Show judging will take place.
The Cat Fanciers’ Club of South Africa will host a championship show for all breeds of cats at the Edenvale Community Centre on Saturday, April 11.
The show will be sponsored by pet food manufacturer Royal Canin and will be open to the public from 9am to 4pm.
During the morning, the cats will be judged in their various classes, while at approximately 3pm the main Best in Show judging will take place.
At that stage the best cats out of the various sections will compete to determine the section winners and eventually the Best Exhibit on Show.
A number of judges from Gauteng will officiate at the show.
Approximately 150 entries are expected.
Various breeds will be on show, including Persians, Maine Coons, Norwegian Forest Cats, British Shorthairs, Burmese, Siamese and Orientals.
A number of less well known breeds such as Birmans, Siberians, Cornish Rex, Devon Rex, Sphynx and LaPerms will also be represented.
A few cats of the Don Sphynx breed, the latest breed recognised for showing in the organisation, will also be on show.
There is also a section for unregistered household pets.
The show offers an ideal opportunity for community members, who may be considering acquiring a pedigree kitten, to meet reputable breeders and discuss with them the attributes of the breeds they are interested in.
Various vendors dealing in cat-related products such as scratching posts, toys, grooming tools and many other articles will be exhibiting and selling their products at the show.
