Cleveland CPF and SAPS to host march this month
Cleveland SAPS and CPF brace for joint march this month.
As part of a joint commitment towards fighting crime in the Cleveland police precinct, the Cleveland SAPS and CPF will embark on a march through the streets of Malvern and surrounds on March 23.
Outlining the purpose of this event, Cleveland CPF chairperson Godfrey Mothibe said a memorandum, which will highlight a range of concerns, will be handed over to the station commander of Cleveland SAPS, Col Mpe Motaung.
“The crime awareness campaign aims to shed light on the high rates of crime in the area and the precinct.
“The march will start from the corner of Ford Street in Jeppestown and meander through into the east of Jules Street in the direction of the Cleveland Police Station,” said Mothibe.
Mothibe said the five-hour march further aims to call for a stop to abuse against women and children, rape, domestic and gender-based violence; car, truck and property hijackings; house and business burglaries; drug and alcohol abuse; and xenophobic attacks and looting.
