R5 200 raised at Shavathon
R5 200 was raised on the day, which will go to the home.
Cansa Keurboom Care Home based in Belgravia held a Cansa Shavathon at Park Meadows Shopping Centre on March 2.
The aim of the event was to raise funds for the home.
Rand Private College learners were the volunteers for the day to give supporters hair cuts and colourful hair.
“We have been having our Shavathon in the centre for years now and we appreciate the continued support they give the home,” said chairperson of Cansa Keurboom Care Home’s liaison committee Sandi van Tonder.
R5 200 was raised on the day, which will go to the home.
“We thank all the patrons from Park Meadows who parted with their hard earned money to support this event, we are very grateful,” said Sandi.
She also thanked the shops in the centre who supported them on the day.
“A sincere thanks to Park Meadows for hosting the event, Rodney Kaplan from Wimpy for supplying us with coffee, and last but not least, Carlos Cardosa from Del Fornos who supplied enough pizzas to feed an army. We are very grateful. It means a lot to the team,” said Sandi.
She said they are also proud of the learners for the team spirit and support.
“Lots of fun was had by the learners. They had a great time spraying and shaving, some had never shaved before, but they soon got the gist of it. As the home we appreciate the school’s continuous support,” said Sandi.
Cansa Keurboom Care Home is situated at 473 Main Street, Belgravia.
The home caters and cares for persons undergoing radio- and chemotherapy at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital.
Patients are cared for and taken to and from the hospital from Monday to Friday.
