Bedfordview students raise R60 950 for cancer awareness

A charity golf day event earlier this year resulted in BSI, Bedfordview students raising R60 950, which they recently handed over to Cansa.

As part of their practical learning experience for the PGA Diploma, third-year students at the Balderstone Sports Institute (BSI), Bedfordview, raised R60 950 for Cansa.

The students handed over the cheque to Leillani Geduld, corporate relations and sporting events manager at Cansa, on October 1.

According to BSI’s head of marketing, Roger King, this incredible amount was raised by the students during the charity golf day they organised and hosted on May 5 this year at Royal Johannesburg.

“It marks a new record for funds raised by our third-year students in this annual event, which forms an integral part of their practical learning experience for the PGA Diploma.”

King added that, having tragically lost a student to melanoma, this cause was very close to their hearts.

He concluded, “A big thank you to all sponsors and players who contributed so generously to this event, and massive congratulations to all of the students.

“We’re very proud of you. We look forward to seeing what our current second-year students will achieve in 2026.”
