Jeppe Cricket Club fall short as Old Parktonians reach Premier A League final

A nine-wicket semi-final victory sees Old Parktonians advance to face Old Edwardians in the Central Gauteng Lions T20 final.

The Jeppe Cricket Club played in a semi-final tournament against Old Parktonians Cricket Club, where Jeppe was beaten by nine wickets.

The two clubs competed in the Central Gauteng Lions (CGL) T20 cricket tournament sponsored by McDonald’s on September 28 at the Jeppe Cricket Club in Bedfordview.

The tournament took place in the highest division, titled the Premier A League.

Chairperson of Old Parks, Ryan Wessels, said the tournament was significant because they were the defending champions, having won the title in the 2024/25 season.

They were set to defend their title against Old Edwardians on October 25.

“What is also significant is that Old Parks is the most successful cricket club in the T20 format, having played in three finals over the past two seasons.

“We won the 2024/25 equivalent tournament, reached the final of the Jozi Cup T20 tournament in the 2025/26 season, and defended our title on October 25,” Wessels said.

He added, “We are proud to have reached another final, which is an achievement in itself and a testament to the quality of our players, who we hope will soon be recognised within the CGL structures.”

Wessels concluded, “These achievements are not accidental; they are the result of a strategic rebuild process adopted and built over two seasons, which has now come to fruition.”
