Pensioners can renew driver’s licences without online booking in Ekurhuleni
The city offers a weekly Wednesday walk-in service at driver’s licence testing centres to assist elderly residents.
The City continues to offer a dedicated weekly service allowing pensioners to renew their driver’s licences without booking online.
The initiative aims to improve access to municipal services for older residents who may experience challenges using digital booking platforms.
According to a statement released by the City, pensioners can visit any driver’s licence testing centre across Ekurhuleni on Wednesdays and receive priority assistance through a walk-in system.
Benoni Driver’s Licence Testing Centre manager Vincent Ditshego said the programme was introduced to remove barriers often faced by elderly residents when trying to secure licence renewal appointments online

“The programme is designed to remove barriers often experienced by elderly residents when navigating digital booking platforms, while also reducing waiting times at licensing facilities,” said Ditshego.
Pensioners wishing to use the service must visit a driver’s licence testing centre on a Wednesday and bring the required documentation, including their identity document, current driver’s licence and any relevant medical certificates where applicable.
The City said the initiative forms part of broader efforts to ensure public services remain inclusive, accessible and responsive to the needs of vulnerable groups in the community.
Officials encouraged eligible pensioners to take advantage of the programme when renewing their driver’s licences.
