Two foreign nationals arrested with crystal meth worth R250k in Edenvale
The two were arrested after a joint operation by the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) and the Hawks uncovered crystal meth at two properties.
Two foreign nationals were arrested after a joint operation by the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Intervention Unit and the South African Police Service’s Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) uncovered crystal meth with an estimated street value of R250 000 in Edenvale.
According to the EMPD, the arrests followed intelligence that two houses in Acasia Estate were allegedly being used for drug dealing.

Acting on the information, officers conducted coordinated searches at both properties.

At the first residence, officers arrested a 48-year-old man and recovered 162.21g of crushed crystal meth with an estimated street value of R150 000.
The operation then moved to a second property at the corner of Sixth Avenue and 11th Street, where a 27-year-old man was arrested. Officers allegedly found him in possession of 1 071.33g of uncrushed crystal meth with an estimated street value of R100 000.
Both suspects were detained at Edenvale Police Station and are expected to appear in the Edenvale Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of illicit substances.
