Karateka do well at championships

The event was attended by 280 karateka with over 900 spectators on the stands.

The Tenshinkan Karate Benoni dojo collected 17 medals during the South African Ryukyu Martial Arts Federation (SARMAF) championships in Sasolburg on June 15 and 16.

“The dojo did well and I am proud of all my students. The event was well-organised, with the floors running smoothly,” said instructor shihan-dai Catherine Venter.

A total of 280 karateka participated in the event with over 900 spectators in the stands and Goju Kai karate’s sensei Frans Bronkhorst as the guest of honour.
