Family and friends say goodbye to Lolly

Continuing through her thoughts and memories of her daughter, Kim remembered fondly the way her daughter loved her and wanted the best for her.

Country Kids pre-school teacher and Rynfield resident Lauren Hayley Meadon (27), known affectionately by her
nickname Lolly, died on August 10 due to Covid-19 complications.

“Lolly was my sunshine who loved to make people happy and fix everything,” said Kim Marx, Lauren’s mother.

“She would go the extra mile to make sure every single person was okay. Her laugh was so contagious and
she was so bubbly. People have said she is the one that had the biggest and most beautiful smile ever. She brightened up the day and nothing was ever a problem to do.”

This lover of Disney and bubbly school teacher was a single mum and always felt her son was her greatest
achievement.

“Her son was her biggest accomplishment. My mum became a great-granny for nine months and I believe
Zac was our gift. I strongly believe Zac is still my gift from Lolly,” explained Kim.

According to her family, Lolly was an artist and incredibly creative in almost every aspect of her life. She matriculated from Benoni High School in 2012.

“Lauren was an employee of Ridgewood College and Country Kids Preschool for the past three years,” said Chantelle Barnard, director of Ridgewood.

“Her energy and passion for early childhood development made her a much-loved educator. She lived for
educating and her fun spirit was appreciated by all.

Lauren is survived by her seven-year-old son, Zachary Ross Meadon, her mother, Kim Marx, stepfather, Craig Marx, her brothers, Tyron Meadon, Alex Chetty, Tamuka Nkosi, and her boyfriend, Andrew McArthur.

“My angel beautiful girl, my absolute ray of sunshine making my life happy when skies were
grey, you have left a massive hole in my heart,” said Kim.

Lauren’s funeral was held on August 24 at the Northfield Methodist Church.
