Survivor SA 2010 winner visits Rotary Aurora

Perle van Schalkwyk, better known as Gigi, winner of the third season of Survivor South Africa in 2010, was the guest speaker at the Rotary Aurora Club dinner, at the Benoni Country Club, on July 31.

Survivor SA’s third season took place on Santa Carolina, an island in the Bazaruto Archipelago, off Mozambique.

The competition lasted for 27 days and was broadcast in 15 episodes, from January to April, 2010.

“I appreciate so many things more, for instance a fridge and just taking food out of it; it’s amazing how small things like that stay with you,” is one of the things she shared from her experience.

Van Schalkwyk won R500 000 and donated it to the charity organisation, Hospice, in Johannesburg.

She is also the owner of a night club in Randburg, Johannesburg.

Further, the evening consisted of dinner and fellowship.

Guests included Rotarians, guests of Rotarians and Rotaract members.
