The hunt is on

Crystal Park resident Manqoba Kubheka (25) has been selected from approximately 30 000 entrants to be part of this year’s Bar One Man Hunt, a reality TV show on SABC 1.

“Being chosen for the top 16 feels amazing, I now know that all those hours of exercising and paying attention to what I eat have paid off,” said Kubheka.

He is one of two Benoni residents who have been picked for the third season search for the modern-day Hercules.

“I entered the competition because it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that includes the ultimate test of endurance, mental skills and character,” he said.

“I’m always keen on pushing myself to new heights and limits and the Bar One Man Hunt was the best way to do exactly that.”

Kubheka added that he is looking forward to meeting new, driven people, seeing how beautiful the country is and taking part in the challenges to which he have never been exposed out of this competition.

“I’m not a very competitive swimmer, so the one thing I hope they don’t give us is a swimming challenge,” he said.

He added that at the moment he does not have a set game plan, he will have to assess the situation before trying to implement or plan anything.

Contestants will be pitting their skills, wits and endurance against each other in a bid to take home the prizes including R500 000 in cash from Nestle, a Hilux Double Cab and a Yamaha Grizzly 300 quad bike sponsored by Bidvest – and the title of South Africa’s ultimate Bar.One Man.

“If I win I will finish building my parent’s house, put a deposit on a new property for myself and invest the rest, after a little travelling, of course,” he said.

Manqoba currently works as an auditor and is training towards becoming a chartered accountant. He is also an entrepreneur and struggling DJ.

He was educated at Veritas College, in Springs, from Grade 0 till matric.

Goal-driven, compassionate and relaxed are the three words he uses to describe himself.

In his spare time he plays soccer, reads, travels and listens to music.

He added that with his busy schedule at work, to keep in shape and to get his body ready for the competition he exercises in the mornings, at home, and if he is free he goes to the gym in the evenings and plays soccer for Old Bens.

The competition airs for 15 episodes, from July 15 till the end of October.
