Motorcyclist airlifted to hospital

The man and a woman were on the motorcycle when it crashed into a bakkie at the intersection of Mowbray Avenue and Kimbolton Street.

“ER24 paramedics immediately assessed both patients; the man, who was in his early 30s had suffered extensive injuries and was in a critical condition,” said ER24 spokesperson Vanessa Jackson.

“Advanced Life Support intervention was needed and while the patient was being stabilised a medical helicopter was called.”

The woman was stabilised on scene and transported to a nearby hospital for further care.

The occupant of the bakkie was not injured.

The accident is being investigated.
