Supporting brain injury survivors
The Brainstorm Support Group, for brain injury and stroke survivors, held its monthly Saturday meeting on August 17, at the Lakeview Hospital, in Benoni.

The topic for this month’s meeting was learning to how to do things yourself after a brain injury.
The group aims to support survivors of traumatic brain injury, strokes, aneurysm and other related neurological conditions.
It also empowers survivors and their family members and promotes social interaction and reintegration.
The brain is the centre of the nervous system in human beings and the smallest damage to it has a huge impact on health.
Support in this area is, therefore, crucial.
The organization was initially established in 2006, by a group of health professionals in the Ekurhuleni area.
The group meets every Wednesday and Friday, and once a month on Saturday, at the Lakeview Hospital, 1 Mowbray Avenue.
