The road block was set up in Main Reef Road, on Thursday, August 23, and comprised women officers from the Benoni police cluster, the Gauteng Traffic Department, public order policing and the Crystal Park CPF.
A total of 238 vehicles were stopped and searched in the four-hour operation.
“Fines worth R2 800 were issued for various traffic law transgressions,” said police spokesperson Lieut Nomsa Sekele.
Sekele said the operation was part of the Women’s Month celebration.
“It was also an attempt to reduce crimes, including car hijackings and house robberies, among others,” said Sekele.
