Pedestrian in critical condition
A pedestrian was transported to hospital in a critical condition after being knocked down by a bakkie in the CBD on Wednesday, December 18.
The accident took place on Voortrekker Street shortly before 3pm.
“On arrival paramedics found a man in his late 30s lying in the road,” said ER24 JHB East spokesperson Glen Orritt.
“Bystanders advised paramedics that the man was struck by a bakkie while attempting to cross the road.
“Paramedics immediately assessed the man and found that he had suffered a severe head injury along with a suspected broken arm and was in a critical condition.”
The man received advanced life support and was transported to the Tambo Memorial Hospital in a critical condition.
The driver of the bakkie was left uninjured.
The accident will be investigated.
