Actonville festive season crime round-up

At the beginning of the festive season, the Actonville area encountered a problem with business robberies almost on a daily basis.

Most businesses that were attacked are situated Actonville.

“However, police managed to make a breakthrough when they arrested four men who had just robbed a supermarket in Mayet Drive on December 22,” said police spokesman Capt Mack Mngomezulu.

They recovered some of the stolen items and two unlicensed firearms.

All the suspects were arrested in the Emlotheni informal settlement.

Then, on December 20, police arrested another four men who had robbed a pharmacy.

“The vehicle they used as a getaway was also recovered,” said Mngomezulu.

Successes for December are:

  •  31 illegal shebeens shut down.
  •  42 people arrested for drug-related cases
  •  and 117 for various crimes.
