These were for English home language, Afrikaans first additional language, history, life sciences, information technology, physical sciences, mathematics paper three (data handling, probability, geometry) and engineering, and graphics and design.
“I am very happy about my results and very relieved that it is finally over,” said Hassen.
He added that he honestly did not set any targets and did not expect to get so many distinctions.
“Throughout my matric year I was faced with a number of personal challenges, but still managed to pull through,” he said.
“I did not have a set study method, my method of study depended on the subject.”
Apart from excelling in academics, Hassen also played competitive cricket for a local club, and soccer socially.
He is currently undecided about whether he should study medicine or engineering.
