Hundreds turn up for fun day
Hundreds of people from Actonville and Wattville were in attendance at a fun day in Actonville on December 21.
Young and old turned up and enjoyed a day of pony rides, go-carts, slippery slides, jumping castles, face painting and food items, at the car park, opposite the Actonville Library.
DA ward 29 PR councillor Haseena Ismail said these fun days are an investment in the future.
“The joy and happiness on the faces of the young and old were enough to know that it was worth it,” said Ismail.
“Our youth need an outlet and since there are no recreational facilities for them, they are resorting to drugs, liquor and crime from a very young age.
“The youth are our future and by hosting these events we are investing in our future.
“We need to take back our children and we can only do so by providing them with more constructive and entertaining alternatives.
“Education, sports and play are important factors in a child’s life and proper recreational activities are lacking in our youth’s lives.”
Ismail said the DA hope to host a stationery drive in the ward on January 11.
