Emrig invites the public to its new premises

Local model railway hobby club Eastern Model Railway Interest Group (Emrig) recently moved its extensive model train layouts to the Northmead Mall, next to Mr Price.

“All are welcome to come and see our wonderful world of model railways, to see and hear the locomotives at work, the different scenes, structures, modelling techniques and the hi-tech digital control system,” said Emrig chairperson Colin Tanner-Tremaine.

“We will be pleased to answer all questions and accept new members who would enjoy a most rewarding hobby.”

The interest group will be open to the public every Wednesday, between 9am and noon, and every Saturday, between 8am and 4pm.

Tanner-Tremaine added that most of the members are of British origin, so there tends to be a strong British flavour, but they also have some South African scenes.

“We are also not fussy about the ‘nationality’ of the model trains,” he said.

“So do not be surprised to see an American Cab Forward Mallet running behind a LMS Duchess or modern image Continental (German) diesel, while a SAR Metro passes in the opposite direction.”

For more information contact Tanner-Tremaine on 082 828 0665 for further information.
