Mother’s day breakfast

The First Benoni Sea Scout Group held a Mother's Day breakfast at the Scout Hall, at Arrowe Park, at Homestead Dam, on May 10.

The group hosts the annual breakfast to raise funds.

This year the proceeds of the fundraiser went to the Jess Foord Foundation (JFF), which provides support to rape victims.

The group also collected toys, colouring-in books, crayons, soap, face cloths and soft toys.

These items were packaged into “kiddy packs”.

Denise Colley, a volunteer at the foundation, said: “It’s very exciting and great to see how much support we have received.”

These packs will be given to children who have been raped, and also to children who have to sit in court for hours during their court cases.

An amount of R7 000 was donated to the JFF from the proceeds of the breakfast.

“I am pleased that the Scouts are able to give back,” said Group Scouter Mike Weeks.
