Farrarmere closure – update

A total of R27 000 has been paid over to fund the proposed Farrarmere road closure.

This falls far short of the R157 548 which is needed to pay for a traffic impact study.

Out of the 3 600 homes which will form part of the closure, only 270 households have contributed thus far.

Farrarmere resident and Manny’s Timber and Hardware managing director Manny Ferreirinha said residents are not being forced into payment and emphasised that the drive would have to come from them.

Ferreirinha spoke at Belvedere School on Wednesday, May 21, to give the community an update.

He hopes to have the outstanding balance by June.

He said he is still in the process of getting quotes for the impact study, which might reduce the cost.

Each household in Farrarmere is required to deposit R100 towards the traffic impact study.

Payments can be made into the following account: Account number FCP – Closure Account, Bank: Standard Bank Branch code: 01-0342 Account number: 021 129 185.
