Great turnout at Korsmans charity winter drive

Organised by Pam Golding Properties, in association with Lake West Residents Association, the Winter Walk charity event, around the Korsman Bird Sanctuary, in Lakefield, was well attended, on June 22.

Residents were challenged to bring old or new blankets and jerseys to be handed to the Benoni Ladies Forum, for distribution to various charities.

Residents responded positively and a pile of blankets and jerseys could be seen.

They also enjoyed a morning walk, surrounded by natural beauty and gorgeous homes.

There was face painting for kids, coffee, and wellness massage treatments in the park, at reduced prizes.

Pam Golding’s Alam Ellahi was pleased with the attendance.

Ward 28 councillor Mary Goby also attended the event, which could, in future, be held seasonally or annually.

Goby said it was an opportunity for residents to get out from behind their big walls and get to know each other and enjoy themselves.

“It’s team work, learning to do things together and an opportunity to get to know their neighbours,” she said, adding that she wished events like Halloween could be celebrated in the same spirit.
