This follows former Benoni police cluster commander Brig Shirley Venter’s appointment as head of the Gauteng Flying Squad and the Dog Unit, and Benoni SAPS station commander Brig Poobalan Subbiah as acting head of the Benoni SAPS cluster.
Benoni CPF executive chairperson Reza Patel congratulated Venter on her appointment and her new responsibilities, and said the CPF is elated.
“At last one of the most vital operational posts has been filled,” he added.
“And that by a seasoned career policewoman who comes through the ranks without favour.”
Patel also congratulated Subbiah on his move to the position of acting cluster head.
“Who better than a resident of Benoni to understand the challenges we locals encounter at grassroots level,” he said.
