Renovations at Central pool delayed
Residents of Benoni Central will have to wait another few months to use the municipal swimming pool.
This is because the completion of renovations at the Benoni Central Swimming Pool have been delayed until January 2015.
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality previously stated that renovations would be completed by May or June.
El-Sha Consulting, the company in charge of the renovations, started fixing the the property on September 25, last year.
Samuel Ngobese, councillor for Ward 73, previously stated that the project was expected to take eight months to complete.
He said the delay in renovations was due to unexpected additional repairs that needed to be made.
“The delays were caused by the rain during March and April, and the contractor saw that the roof also needed to be fixed,” he added.
Meanwhile, Ekurhuleni is also conducting investigations into the structural problems at the Etwatwa Swimming Pool.
