Reduce chances of housebreaking, follow these tips

Housebreakings are still a concern in the Crystal Park SAPS precinct.

Crystal Park SAPS media liaison officer Tryna Maritz made the following tips available to reduce the chances of falling victim to the crime:

  •  Report suspicious-looking vehicles and persons to the police immediately.
  •  Jot down the registration number of suspicious-looking vehicles.
  •  Report cases of suspicious-looking vehicles at your neighbours’ residences.
  •  Lock and close all doors and windows when not at home.
  •  Have burglar bars fitted to your windows.
  •  Have security doors fitted in front of your home doors.
  •  Do not hide keys in obvious places such as pot plants and under door mats.
  •  Never allow strangers to handle keys or look at key numbers.
  •  Change your locks when your house keys are lost.
  •  Keep your safe’s keys on you.
  •  Do not let strangers onto your property, even when they are neatly dressed.
