Vandalised post offices will be closed until repairs are made

The Benoni and Farrarmere post offices will be closed for two weeks, due to the damage caused at the buildings in Monday's unrest.

South African Post Office communications officer Johan Kruger said both post offices were closed today (Tuesday).

He said a more accurate time frame as to how long the post offices will be closed will be provided when it is available.

Kruger said a door at the Farrarmere Post Office was kicked off its hinges and a point-of-sales computer was damaged in yesterday’s unrest.

“Unfortunately, the e-Natis computer screen was smashed and it will have to be replaced before the licence renewal service can be offered again,” said Kruger.

“This type of replacement normally takes four to five working days.”
