Woman dies in accident, three injured
One person died and three others were injured in a motor vehicle accident, on the corner of Snake and Main Reef roads, on Saturday.
Paramedics responded to the accident, involving a light motor vehicle and bakkie, at around 8pm.
“Paramedics were met by frantic bystanders who ushered them to the light motor vehicle,” said ER24 JHB East spokesperson Glen Orritt.
“They found that CPR was being done on the passenger, a female in her 20s.
“Paramedics continued CPR and worked for an hour to try to save the woman’s life, but, unfortunately, she had suffered severe and extensive injuries and was declared dead.”
The driver of the light motor vehicle was not injured.
The driver of the bakkie suffered a broken arm, while the passenger had a fractured pelvis.
Both patients were transported to Life the Glynnwood Hospital for care.
Orritt thanked the Benoni CPF and other services for their assistance on scene.
Also on Saturday, just before midnight, a bakkie collided with a cow on the N12 Highway, before the Etwatwa exit.
The driver and passenger were not injured, but the cow was killed on impact.
