Three arrested for stealing tyres
Three people were arrested in Northmead for stealing wheels from a property in Fairleads, on November 27.
Police made the arrest in Fifth Avenue, after the Crystal Park Community Police Forum (CPF) received information of the suspects loading the items into a vehicle in Jay Road, Fairleads.
The CPF alerted APB Security and the Crystal Park SAPS of the suspicious looking activity.
The red Venture vehicle, in which the suspects were driving, was chased down Pretoria Road, eventually stopping in Northmead.
“When the police officers searched the vehicle, they found four tyres and rims inside the car,” said Crystal Park SAPS spokesperson Tryna Maritz.
“After questioning the suspects, they informed them (the police) that they stole the tyres in Crystal Park, at a house in Heilbron Road.”
The man whose house was identified by the suspects confirmed that the items found in the suspects possession belonged to him.
The men, who are between the age of 22 and 26, will be charged for being in possession of stolen property.
They are expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrates Court on Monday, December 1.
