Murder accused will serve 15 years

Benoni Agricultural Holdings resident Hobble Harry Harries has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for murder.

The judgement was handed down in the Benoni Magistrate Court on Thursday, December 4.

The 51-year-old, who lived on the same property as the 50-year-old victim, on Larch Road, and was friends with him, stabbed him after a argument.

“The deceased tried to protect Harries’ wife, as they were having an argument,” said Tryna Maritz, Crystal Park SAPS spokesperson.

Later on, after the fight ended, Harries went to the deceased man’s home, threatened him with a knife and eventually stabbed him three times.

During the trial, Harries testified that he had stabbed the victim in self-defence, but an investigation by WO Richard Bloem revealed that he was lying.

Harries will serve his sentence at Modderbee Prison.
