Wei obtained distinctions in Chinese A-level, mathematics, life orientation, accounting, engineering, graphics and design, life sciences, physical sciences and advanced programme mathematics.
The 19-year-old said he was not surprised at receiving eight distinctions.
He added that most of the subjects he chose were practical, requiring him to understand rather than learn it by heart.
Apart from listening in class, Wei spend 30 minutes a day revising the work he was taught at school.
He urged this year’s matrics to follow these steps: listen in class, if possible study whilst at school, have good time management skills and have a desire to study.
The Farrarmere resident will take his passion for engines and aircrafts to new heights when he studies towards a degree in aeronautical engineering at the University of the Witwatersrand.
He is confident his high marks will ensure he has what it takes to complete the course.
He hopes to work for an airline after completing the course, then furthering his studies in the same field.
