New look for old guiding venue
Former Girl Guides will remember the Blue Forest, fondly referred to by old members, and will be pleased to know that the venue has been given a facelift.
The Girl Guides South Africa East Region branch is located on 65 Van Rooyen Street, Rynfield, where the offices and a hall are based.
Many generations have passed through the venue, where they took part in games, activities, camps, badge testing, thanksgiving festivals, nature walks and camp fires.
“From the structured fun of the Guiding programme emerged young women, articulate, confident and ready to conquer the world,” said Vivienne Ridyard.
The refurbished hall has new flooring, a sparkling, refitted kitchen and civilised bathrooms — something of which the Girl Guides can be proud.
The new renovations will enable the branch to host various events at the hall.
“We would like our girls to know this, to come and have a look and marvel at the improvements and reminisce about their memories and enjoy the revitalised Blue Forest,” said Ridyard.
