Cyclist dies on Putfontein Road

A cyclist died this morning (April 30) after being knocked off his bicycle on Putfontein Road.

“ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found a male patient lying on the side of the road, three metres away from his bicycle,” said ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring.

“A light motor vehicle had parked 50m away from the cyclist.

“On assessment of the cyclist, paramedics discovered that he had sustained multiple fatal injuries in the collision.”

The cyclist was declared dead on scene.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

Meiring said it is understood that the driver failed to notice the cyclist crossing the road.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
