The truck had been hijacked on the N12 by an unknown number of men.
The driver was dropped off, unharmed, in the Evaton area.
A 55-year-old man was seen driving the tractor on the N12 freeway.
The hijacked truck belongs to a company in Brakpan, and it was en route to Rustenburg.
Wilfred Kgasago, EMPD spokesperson, said the arrested man had already found a buyer for the stolen tractor.
A case of possession of a stolen motor vehicle was opened at the Etwatwa Police Station, and the man was expected to appear in the Daveyton Magistrates Court on Friday, July 17.
