Drug dealer caught red-handed

A drug dealer was caught selling nyaope at the Daveyton Mall on Friday, July 24.

According to Wilfred Kgasago, EMPD spokesperson, the 33-year-old man was caught with nyaope worth R4 500.

The man admitted that he purchased his drugs from somewhere in Johannesburg.

“He said he was involved in selling the drugs as a way of making a living, as he was the sole breadwinner in his family,” said Kgasago.

Officers also confiscated R480, which was found on the man, and it is believed the money was made from selling nyaope.

He was taken to the Daveyton Police Station and charged with dealing in illicit substances.

He was expected to appear in the Daveyton Magistrates Court on Monday, July 27.
