Central Methodist Church to celebrate 90th birthday

The church will celebrate with a weekend packed with festivities from August 28 to 30, along with a dinner-dance celebration on August 22, at the Benoni Country Club.

There will be various services over the course of the weekend, each with the purpose of fellowship and unity in Benoni.

Previous church members and the public in general are invited to come and celebrate with the church, to make it a memorable experience.

The youth is encouraged to participate in the festivities and contribute to the church’s history.

The Rev Hilton Volkwyn said: “This celebration is not about achieving anything, but more about giving glory to God for being influential in the community of Benoni.”

For many years the church has been a safe haven in situations of turmoil and building the community of Benoni, which the it strives to do.

With people coming to the church from all walks of life, it continues to grow and to provide people with a sense of belonging.
