Five bodies found with gunshot wounds

The bodies of four suspected illegal miners were each found with bullet wounds to the head, off Daveyton Road this morning (August 8).

“At about 10am this morning, the community were hunting with dogs for rabbits, next to shaft 13, when they came across four bodies,” said Benoni SAPS cluster spokesperson Lieut Nomsa Sekele.

“All four victims had gunshot wounds to the head, their hands were tied and they were found without shoes.”

Sekele said a fifth body of a suspected illegal miner was discovered at 1.45am this morning near the N12 highway, at the Putfontein Road exit.

Sekele said the man was shot in the body, but his hands were not tied like the other victims.

No arrests have been made.

A case of murder is being investigated.
